DESCRIPTION:Alice Allison Dunnigan was born in Russellville, KY in 1906, a
 nd she became actively involved in the civil rights movement in the 1930&#
 039;s. She moved to Washington DC in 1942, and she became the first Africa
 n American woman authorized to attend the White House, Congressional and S
 upreme Court press conferences. Fighting the twin strikes of racism and se
 xism, she was actively involved in the civil rights movement and the strug
 gle for equality until her death in 1983. A 15 - minute film about Ms. Du
 nnigan will also be shown.The SEEK (Struggles for Emancipation and Equalit
 y in Kentucky) Museum tells the unique and important history of slavery in
  Kentucky, along with the related history of the struggles for freedom, eq
 uality and justice. This is told in 6 historic buildings located in two ad
 joining National Register Districts in Russellville, Kentucky.
