The Michael Gough Group formed in 1989 with a primary focus on covering early Chicago-style Electric Blues and coupled with Mississippi's Malaco Records Rhythm and Blues artists, particularly the great ZZ Hill.

The Michael Gough Group and Trio have been billed with many Blues greats, such as Pinetop Perkins, Albert King, James Cotton, Lonnie Brooks, Jimmy Vaughn, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Long John Hunter, Magic Slim and the Teardrops, John Primer, and many other Blues heavyweights throughout the years.

Michael Gough is the product of a very musically inclined family.  Gospel music was his earliest influence.  By the age of 19, he had is first paying gig.  From that point, he played in numerous cover and original bands throughout south central Kentucky, and in 1989, decided to form the Michael Gough Group and later, the Michael Gough Trio and continues to perform with both.

Bowling Green native Ian Lovelace is an up-and-coming, torch-bearing harmonica player following in the footsteps of those who have made influential impressions on him, including Sonny Boy Williamson, Little Walter, James Cotton, Kim Wilson, and Carey Bell.

John Martin earned degrees from Western Kentucky University and Austin Peay State University. He is currently director of guitar and music technology studies at Western Kentucky university in Bowling Green Kentucky. He has appeared in Guitar Player magazine, and has made concert appearances with artists such as Al Martino, Norm Crosby, Tinsley Ellis, Clint Holmes and Red Buttons.
