Event Details

In June 2024, Daviess County Public School teacher Beth Ewing, along with an Owensboro High School student, McKayla Thomas, traveled to Normandy, France made possible by their participation in the Albert H. Small Institute. Beth and McKayla spent months learning about the D-Day Campaign of 1944, as well as extensively researching the life of Owensboro native David Wilhite, who is buried in the Normandy American Cemetery in France. Before heading to France, they travelled to Washington, D.C. to the National Archives to pull records on David Wilhite. Beth and McKayla will be at DCPL to present some of their research, their experience at Normandy and Washington, D.C., and talk about Owensboro's connection to D-Day and Normandy.
